Normally with compactness comes more recoil, but the Predator II has a full-length guide rod and a coned (wafered) match grade barrel that helps control that recoil. With the Predator barrel system, the felt recoil is less and shot recovery time is much faster than any traditional sized commander 1911 with a bushing barrel.
